Change the Oil

If you want to keep your engine running well, it’s important to routinely change the oil. The frequency depends on the make and model of your car (you can find this information in your owner’s manual) but most recommend doing it between 3,000 – 5,000 miles. There are other things to consider when getting your oil changed, too, like your vehicle’s mileage and whether it requires synthetic or non-synthetic oil.
Inspect and Maintain Tires

Maintaining good tire pressure is essential in getting the best gas mileage out of your vehicle. You can find your tire’s recommended pressure (either on the inside, bottom of the door frame or check your owner’s manual) then check the PSI and inflate or deflate the tires accordingly. Rotating your tires is important, too. Not only does it keep you and your family safe but it also ensures you get the most life out of the tires by preventing uneven wear and tear.
Windshield Wiper Maintenance

Do you know when most drivers realize they need to replace their vehicle’s windshield wipers? When they’re driving in a rainstorm and they try to use them. Don’t let that happen to you! It’s dangerous and very frustrating. It’s important that you can see clearly out your windshield – be sure to do regular checks, inspect them and replace the wipers when necessary.
Checking and Maintaining Brakes
Did you know your vehicle’s brake pads need to be inspected regularly? It’s important that you pay attention to any strange sounds, shuddering or even vibrating when you push on the brake pedal. If something sounds or feels strange – take your vehicle in for an inspection. Replacing your brake pads is inexpensive and easy – but ignoring the problem could lead to damage to your rotors and that is a much costlier repair.
It’s no secret we all rely heavily on our cars. Whether it’s for getting to work, shuffling the kids to school and practice, or taking that one-tank trip to an exciting new place. Protect My Car is here to make sure your car is running smoothly when you need it.
